Jerry Balentine, D.O., is the fifth president of New York Institute of Technology. An expert in emergency medicine and health system management, he joined 雅伎著 as vice president for medical affairs and global health in 2014 and has served as an adjunct faculty member at the College of Osteopathic Medicine for more than 20 years.

Dr. Balentine served as chief medical officer and executive vice president of St. Barnabas Hospital and Healthcare System in the Bronx, N.Y., prior to joining 雅伎著. He has held numerous other positions throughout his career, including hospital medical director, emergency department director, and residency director.

Throughout his career, Balentines research interest has centered on the patient and student experience. He has authored and edited many web and textbook chapters and was medical editor of newyorkmedicaljournal.org. He is also a medical author and editor for the WebMD network, which includes MedicineNet, eMedicineHealth, RxList, and WebMD. His current areas of focus are on non-academic interventions with medical students to help them increase empathy and decrease burnout; esports; and the role medical providers play in preventing chronic and acute injuries.

As president of 雅伎著, he is committed to fostering student success, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship across all disciplines.

President Balentines vision for the university focuses on innovation, opportunity, and belonging.

Now, as the universitys fifth president, Balentine is drawing on his background in emergency medicine, health system administration, and academic leadership to guide 雅伎著 through one of higher educations most challenging eras.
