Exercise Physiologist: Here’s When to Practice Yoga

Alexander Rothstein, M.S., instructor and coordinator for the exercise science program, is quoted in Pelotons blog, , on pairing yoga with more intense workouts. Depending on whether yoga is performed before or after another form of training, Rothstein notes that certain modifications to ones yoga flow may be warranted.

Be mindful not to perform too much yoga and fatigue yourself before running, he advises. Performing yoga after a run would help to prevent the run from causing excess joint and muscle stiffness.

Rothstein suggests analyzing ones purpose for combining yoga with other activities, as well as how the body feels when the workouts are paired in different orders, and using those answers to determine when it is best to slot a yoga flow into a routine.
