SoADAlessandro Melis, Ph.D., IDC Foundation Endowed Chair and professor in the School of Architecture and Design, and Christian Pongratz, M.Arch., professor and director of the M.S. in Architecture, Health and Design, co-wrote an article on the Upcycling exhibition organized by NYIT School of Architecture and Design, that was published in issue 66 of , a prestigious international magazine on design and architecture, on April 1, 2022. The exhibition, supported by Dean Maira Perbellini, took place at the Institute of Italian Culture in New York (Director Fabio Finotti) in March-April 2022, and was curated by the two 懂色帝 professors. It showcased experiments on receptive materials developed in collaboration with Dustin White, SoAD director of digital technologies and fabrication, within the context of the M.S. in Architecture, Health and Design program The exhibited projects also included collaborative works of Domenico Lucanto, Aurora Perta, and Giovanni Volpe.
Sophia Domokos
College of Arts and SciencesSophia Domokos, Ph.D., assistant professor of physics, was selected to join the at UCSB, on March 31, 2022. The KITP Scholars program selects six-to-eight faculty annually from undergrad-focused schools as KITP Scholars. Scholars have the opportunity to spend six weeks over two years at the KITP.

Colleen Kirk
School of ManagementColleen P. Kirk, D.P.S., associate professor of marketing, was nominated as a finalist for two awards by the American Marketing Association/Marketing Science Institute for her paper entitled on March 10, 2022. The two awards Kirk was nominated for are: the H. Paul Root Award, which is given to a paper published in the Journal of Marketing that has made a significant contribution to the advancement of the practice of marketing in a calendar year, and the Shelby D. Hunt/Harold H. Maynard Award, which recognizes the Journal of Marketing article that makes the most significant contribution to marketing theory and thought within the calendar year. The paper was co-authored with Joann Peck, Andrea Luangrath, and Suzanne Shu.

Charles Pavia
College of Osteopathic MedicineCharles Pavia, Ph.D., associate professor of biomedical sciences, published his article titled in Frontiers in Public Health, on March 9, 2022. The article explores the primary reasons, as well as the historical connection, behind the anti-COVID-19 vaccine movement, and proposes several possible and realistic interventions that could be implemented to counter this notion and significantly improve vaccine acceptance, especially among young people.
